This is a very recent wildflower turf project at Wotton-under-Edge Swimming Pool, Gloucestershire. I was asked to provide advice on wildflower turf, its installation and maintenance. In collaboration with Wotton-under-Edge Town Council, who funded the project and very generous help from Wotton Area Climate Action Network volunteers in clearing the site and laying the naturalising spring bulbs and turf.
For this project Enriched Native Wildflower Turf was used along with a wide range of naturalising spring bulbs, both from Wildflower turf Ltd , in order to extend the season of interest.
The turf and bulbs should establish very quickly and put on a fantastic show this year and many years to come.
It is a great way to provide an extremely attractive low maintenance alternative to a what was a weedy patch of ground and in the process provide an amazing source of food and habitat to a wide range of insects, birds and small mammals. It also shows that you do not need a huge area in your garden in order to have a wildflower meadow.
